Reconstructing the Old Ways for the Modern Era

Welcome

We welcome all who wish to learn about or follow the Norse Deities, Sagas, Folklore, Traditions, and the Agricultural Calendar.  We invite all seekers to ask questions, attend one of our gatherings or events, and drink in our halls.

What is Theodism?

Theodism, or Theodish Belief reconstructs the polytheistic tribal beliefs and folk traditions from ancient Germanic and other Northern European tribes. You may recognize some of these deities such as Woden (Odin), Thunor (Thor), Tiw (Tyr), Freya, Frigg, and others. In addition to the gods and goddess we also make offerings to other wights (beings) such as the elves (land spirits) and the elderen (ancestors)  Each Theod (meaning people or tribe) is much like an extended family with multiple households (rooftrees) that are united culturally and spiritually under one tribe led by a hlaford (lord) or hlaefdige (lady). The tribe contains Theodsmen and Goodfolk.  Theodsmen are united together by a Web of Oaths made or through true kinship.  Goodfolk are those who have not formally joined the tribe, but are considered friends of the tribe and are welcome at our gatherings.
